Apply for Counselling

we have a waiting list

To apply online for counselling, please complete the form below and make the £10 initial assessment fee. Once received we will contact you to arrange an Initial Assessment, which offers you the space to discuss what has brought you to Counselling, outlines the Counselling Agreement and how we may help. This appointment is not a counselling session and is conducted between 9am and 5pm with one of our senior counsellors. Our aim is to provide this session within 3 weeks. From this appointment you will be placed on our waiting list for a counsellor that is appropriate for your needs and within your time constraints.

If you are unable to apply online, please call us on 01225 767459 and we will send you one of our packs.

We are experiencing high demand for our service. We want to help as many people as possible but hundreds of potential spaces are being lost for varying reasons. This wastes thousands of pounds which are difficult to raise and creates long waiting times for everyone that needs the service quickly.

NOTICE

Please read carefully before applying for counselling.

Please read the following statements and tick the boxes to confirm, before completing the registration form below.

  • We offer Online and Telephone to anyone with a disability or a mobility issue.
  • Our service is available to anyone living in West Wiltshire (Trowbridge, Bradford-on-Avon, Westbury, Warminster, Melksham, Devizes, Calne, Box, Chippenham, and the surrounding villages).
  • If you have had counselling from us in the past, you will need to wait 18-months from your last session before applying again.
  • Your Counselling Session will always be at the same time, on the same day.
  • We are unable to offer floating sessions, fortnightly or monthly sessions.
  • We do not provide weekend sessions.
  • If you give very narrow availability, it can mean a longer wait. We always recommend wherever possible talking to your employer and family about how this is important to your mental health.
  • Whilst on the waiting list you will be called to check in and see how you are. Please be sure to update your availability if it changes.
  • If you have opted for remote counselling, please make sure you are alone and will not be disturbed. Having children around you whilst your session is happening does not allow you to truly engage with the counselling process.
  • Children and animals (excluding assistance animals) cannot come into face-to-face sessions.
  • Sessions need to happen as weekly as possible, to get the best possible benefit from Counselling. We want you to make this time for yourself a priority. You will be given up to 12 sessions, which will need to be completed within 12 weeks, excluding anytime your counsellor takes off.
  • If you miss more than 3 sessions, your counselling will be terminated.
  • If you cannot make a session, it needs to be cancelled by contacting your counsellor, with at least 24 hours’ notice.
  • All sessions cancelled are counted as completed sessions.
  • If you feel we are not the right service for your needs, please contact your GP.

If you are unable to agree to one or more of the following statements, please either visit your GP for specialist care or request a referral to the Community Mental Health Team.
